Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Analyzer Technician in Texas
City, Texas.
About you
As an Analyzer Technician you will work within an empowered natural
work team. The major function of this job is the safe, reliable,
and cost-effective operation of environmental and quality
analyzers. You will be entering a group that provides technical
expertise and service to multiple operating units.
Your Key Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining and repairing all types of analyzer
systems.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and replace defective components on
instrumentation.
Assist in the installation, commissioning, and documentation of new
analyzer systems.
Knowledge of analytical equipment and theory.
Knowledge of sample systems (including sample conditioning such as
filtration, calculating lag times, and return to environmentally
safe location)
Ability to read electrical, logic, and loop diagrams
Electronic troubleshooting and repair skills
Good mechanical aptitude and understanding of pipes, valves, flow
measuring equipment, regulator type equipment, etc.
Knowledge in gas chromatography, spectroscopy and sampling system
maintenance is an asset.
Procedure use - this includes field use, review, revise, and
development of procedures.
Required qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 of the following are
required.2 or more years of experience as an Analyzer
Technician.
Completion of an Instrumentation or Electrical Apprenticeship
program.
Able to work on a 5-8 schedule with occasional overtime as dictated
by business needs. Participates in an after-hour call rotation for
night and weekend coverage.
Able to diagnose and repair difficult problems with limited support
associated with the following: Chromatography (gas and liquid
phase), Spectroscopy, Oxygen measurement, Moisture measurement,
Titrators & associated methods, pH & Conductivity measurement,
Total Organic Carbon, Continuous Emission Monitor systems, Sampling
techniques, Serial communications.
Individual must be willing to take call during the week and on some
weekends.
Some computer skills - Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel,
etc.
Some night or weekend work will be necessary depending upon plant
needs.
Valid U.S. driver's license.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability
to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support

Willing and able to meet physical demands of the job, with or
without reasonable accommodations:
Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
Stand 50% of the time.
Walk for extended periods of time
Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
Work in tight and closed in spaces.
Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not
limited to respirator.
Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.
Work in an area with hazardous materials
Your preferred qualifications include:
2 Year degree or higher in Instrumentation or Electrical.
Training courses from major analyzer system manufacturers, such as
Siemens/Applied Automation, ABB, Biotector, and/or Servomex.
Proficient in Microsoft software, including Word and Excel.
Your skills, knowledge, and abilities include:
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a safe manner. Safety is a top priority at Dow.

Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new computer
systems
Good interpersonal skills are required, both written and verbal
Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders
Ability to efficiently work independently on routine tasks/jobs
Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks with competing
priorities
Strong Initiative, Teamwork, and Technical Capabilities. This role
includes the ability to:
Utilize functional, technical knowledge, company standards and
educational background or experience to analyze and solve
problems
Effectively work and maintain relationships with the Natural Work
Teams and key stakeholders with diverse perspectives and background
is essential including Engineers, Operations personnel, and
co-workers to identify and resolve technical issues
Knowledgeable in all aspects of process Analytical systems
maintenance.
Comfortable providing input regarding the development & engineering
of new analyzer systems.
Willing and able to assist and train less skilled Analyzer
Technicians.
Knowledge of basic chemistry.
