Job Posting Title:Accessibility Resource Specialist----Hiring Department:Special Education----Position Open To:All Applicants----Weekly Scheduled Hours:40----FLSA Status:Exempt----Earliest Start Date:Immediately----Position Duration:Expected to Continue Until Aug 31, 2023----Location:Texas----Job Details:General NotesThis is a 40 hour per week, full-time remote position with required travel for staff meetings, trainings, and events as scheduled.PurposeThe purpose of this position is to support the sharing of networks, resources, and strategies for improving continuing education and training for deaf people.Responsibilities

  • Respond to help desk inquiries by providing guidance and consultation using strategies, resources, and culturally relevant practices that actively promote equity and inclusion of deaf people.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for creating and/or delivering guidance, consultation, or strategies to improve knowledge of practices or strategies supported by the best available evidence.
  • Support designated stakeholder groups with content development and delivery as well as plan, organize, and deliver trainings in person or online.
  • Actively contribute to an environment and culture of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through continuous development.
  • Track and document technical assistance activities using online database tracking software.
  • Keep abreast of new developments, technology, and best practices in the field.Required QualificationsAt least five or more years of experience working in disability services in higher education or postsecondary training setting. Proficient knowledge of higher education and postsecondary training accessibility frameworks, accessibility practices, accommodations, auxiliary aides, assistive technology, and relevant community resources. Models inclusive behaviors and proactively manages bias. Some demonstrated experience consulting, training, or providing professional development to a diverse range of stakeholders and/or experience developing professional resources. Bachelor's degree in disability studies, rehabilitation counseling, counseling, postsecondary programs and services, deaf education, special education, or other related fields. Beginner proficiency in American Sign Language or willingness to learn.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsAdvance to expert knowledge of higher education and postsecondary training accessibility frameworks, accessibility practices, accommodations, auxiliary aides, assistive technology, and relevant community resources. Expert knowledge of community resources and related system support services. A seasoned professional with experience consulting, training professionals, or developing professional resources. Master's degree in disability studies, rehabilitation counseling, counseling, postsecondary programs and services, deaf education, special education, or other related fields. Intermediate or greater proficiency in American Sign Language preferred.Salary Range$50,448 - $58,000Working ConditionsThis position is full-time remote with some required travel.Required Materials
