Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Administrative Assistant to join our Ashland LLC (ISP Technologies, Inc.) business at our Texas City, Texas plant. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the quality assurance function. This position will report to Quality Assurance Manager.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Redirect queries as needed to responsible parties.
  • Work with technical staff as needed to fulfill customer's needs.
  • Lead and facilitate special projects in a timely manner by researching, compiling data and/or serving as facilitator for various QA projects as they arise.
  • Scan documents into the archive system.
  • Assist with TXC QA iPortal/SharePoint page.
  • Order laboratory supplies and keep adequate inventory on-hand.
  • Assist as needed with arrangements for customer visits and audits (reserve room, order lunches, etc.).
  • Book travel arrangements for department personnel.
  • Enter work orders for QA department.
  • Conduct and follow through on general office duties to assist Quality department staff.
  • Compile data for metrics and reporting metrics.
  • Responsible for all department expense reporting and settlements.
  • Run sample data queries and create charts and graphs with the data.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • 2 years' experience in Quality in a chemical or related industry.
  • Strong computer skills, Excel,, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Proven organizational skills along with strong written and verbal skills.

Individual must be able to respond appropriately during site emergencies as directed by the Site Emergency Manager. Must be capable of evacuating the manufacturing process areas in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise. The candidate must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment if required to work or visit within the manufacturing process area. This may include hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, or other equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being performed. Other physical activities may include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 25 lbs., or reaching depending on the work activity required. Work is performed in an office/plant environment. Training required to perform the job properly may require this position to travel within Texas and around the United States of America.

Candidate must also have the ability to 1) identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management, including Corporate, 2) develop and foster a positive work environment at all levels, and 3) resolve conflicts through problem resolution skills.

The individual must also have the ability to identify quality improvement opportunities and formulate action plans for implementation. This requires exceptional work planning and problem-solving skills.

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

  • Associates degree preferred in field relevant to the industry.
  • 4+ years' experience in Quality in a chemical or related industry.
  • Prior experience as an administrative assistant.
  • Comfortable with working independently, setting work priorities according to departmental needs.

Must be authorized to work in the US.
