A Forklift PM (Preventative Maintenance) & Rental Coordinator
serves as the critical link between the service department, rental
fleet, and customers. This role ensures that material handling
equipment is maintained for peak performance and that rental
operations run seamlessly. Job Summary The Forklift PM/Rental
Coordinator is responsible for scheduling and tracking preventative
maintenance for the forklift fleet while managing all aspects of
the equipment rental process. You will act as the primary point of
contact for rental inquiries, coordinate logistics for equipment
delivery/pickup, and maintain detailed service records to maximize
fleet uptime and profitability. Core Responsibilities Preventative
Maintenance (PM) Management: Schedule, track, and oversee recurring
PM services for all company-owned and rental units. Rental
Coordination: Handle inbound rental inquiries, prepare rental
agreements, and guide customers through the selection of
appropriate equipment. Logistics & Dispatching: Coordinate the
delivery and return of rental units, working with drivers and
logistics teams to ensure timely service. Fleet Inspection: Conduct
thorough check-in/check-out inspections of returned equipment to
identify damages, maintenance needs, or missing components.
Inventory & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of equipment
location, utilization, and service history using specialized rental
software. Customer Support: Resolve customer inquiries regarding
billing, equipment performance, or on-site repair needs during the
rental period. Reporting: Prepare reports on rental revenue, fleet
utilization, and PM compliance for management review.
Qualifications & Skills Prior Experience: 2 years of experience in
equipment rental, warehouse operations, or service coordination.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with various forklift types (e.g.,
sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) and basic mechanical
understanding of their operation. Software Proficiency: Experience
with ERP systems, inventory management software, or specialized
rental platforms. Certification: Valid Forklift Operator
Certification is often required to assist with staging or loading
equipment. Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to navigate
between technicians, sales teams, and high-priority clients.
Organization: Exceptional ability to manage multiple scheduling
deadlines and documentation requirements simultaneously. Preferred
Requirements High school diploma or GED; Associate’s degree in
Business or Logistics preferred. Clean driving record for
occasional travel to job sites. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a
plus in many markets.
