Job Summary / Purpose:

As a Staff Engineer you will be responsible for leading application architecture and software engineering for the most challenging software development projects at TheKey. You will be an active participant in conversations with business and technical stakeholders to understand business needs and the current capabilities of TheKey's technology. You will propose novel technical solutions that apply current engineering best-practices to solve business needs with a scalable software solution. As part of implementation, you will identify the best software tools and approaches for development of specific applications and features, then lead engineering implementation using those tools/approaches. You will define best practices and software patterns for the rest of the engineering team, and help enforce these practices/patterns through code reviews and mentorship. You will independently design, build, review, deploy, and maintain production-grade software at the highest industry standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Write clean, scalable software expressing industry best-practices
• Establish and enforce software development best practices
• Architect complex software systems
• Lead engineering efforts to implement software features, applications, and systems
• Collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to identify and implement software solutions to business problems
• Stay current with industry best-practices for software design and development
• Mentor team members
• Additional duties assigned by your supervisor Required Skills, Education and Certifications:
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field, preferred not required
  • 15+ years experience building production-grade software applications
  • 10+ years architecting complex software systems
  • 10+ years mentoring engineers
  • 10+ years experience working with JavaScript
  • 10+ years experience building web-based APIs (REST, GraphQL, etc)
  • 5+ years experience working with stakeholders to define business requirements and translate requirements into production software systems
  • 5+ years experience working with Node.js
  • Strong experience working with agile development teams Physical Requirements:
    
    --- Ability to lift and carry up to 10-15 pounds
    --- Ability to sit, stand and walk for prolonged periods of time throughout the work day
    --- Ability to use standard office equipment such as personal computer, laptop, telephone, etc.
    
    Annual Base Pay: $190K-210K
