want your knowledge and expertise! Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the direction of the Medical Imaging Supervisor, and Director
of Medical Imaging Services and Radiologists, the MRI Technologist
is responsible to safely and proficiently perform magnetic
resonance imaging procedures and related patient care according to,
government regulations, physician orders, policies and procedures
of the Medical Imaging Department, and policies and procedures of
the hospital. Each patient is assessed by appropriate disciplines
beginning at the time the patient enters a hospital service and
progressing through discharge. The person in this position is
responsible for consideration of developmental issues of patients
in each of the following patient population groups identified. -
Reviews and completes appropriate paperwork on every patient as
required including exam scheduling, physician orders, department
logs, imaging records, consents, medical records, and patient
charges. - Has a good working knowledge of the Meditech computer
system and responsibly completes exam orders, exam completion
entries, and exam and supply charging without reminders or
supervision. - Checks medical records, screening checklists,
medication reconciliation, and LMP forms on all patients as
applicable and verifies order with the patient prior to imaging to
ensure patient safety. - Checks armband of all patients and
performs verbal response from patient of Name and Date of Birth
prior to reviewing screening paperwork, IV starts and Imaging. -
Consistently verifies presence of and/or obtains informed consent
on all patients who will receive contrast media injections. -
Completes form and all required documentation of procedure. -
Obtains Radiologist’s verbal approval and/or signature prior to
procedure if any contra-indicators are present. - Properly
completes exam workflow: Puts exam to TAKEN in Meditech for
billing, enters any contrast charges in Meditech for billing,
enters tech data in Meditech and PACS, scans all documents into
PACS, puts exam to REVIEWED for Radiologist queue to read exam. -
Arrives to work on time on a daily basis and immediately begins job
responsibilities without waiting for instructions or for others to
arrive. - Adheres to department shift hand off protocol of punching
in within 7 minutes prior to shift start time. - Answers department
phones promptly, identifying department and self, consistently
expresses a polite and helpful attitude on the phone, and utilizes
iMobile for in-house communication. - Can verbalize correct
emergency code activation procedures and the action required to
respond to emergencies. - Uses cautious judgment and tact when
answering questions regarding diagnosis, physician orders, or
patient care to prevent compromising patient privacy,
confidentiality, medical/legal information, or the
physician-patient relationship. What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate of a 2 year accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
(Associate Degree) - Current ARRT registry. - Minimum 1 year
directly related experience in medical imaging preferred. -
Proficiency in computer skills including Word and Excel. - BCLS
Certification - Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within
30 days of employment start date - (ARRT-R) Radiography At HCA
