Registered Nurse (RN) | Medical-Surgical Location: Texas City, TX Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,491 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Positive attitude - BLS Description: The unit is comprised of 42 beds and 40 core staff members. The nursing staff on the day shift typically includes one charge nurse, six to seven registered nurses, three to four certified nursing assistants, and one to three sitters. Night shift staffing mirrors the day shift. The patient ratio is 6:1. Common equipment utilized includes glucometers, vital signs machines, hoyer lifts, wound vacs, chest tubes, Baxter pumps, epidural PCA, telemetry monitors, kangaroo pumps, BiPap, peg tubes, and blood warmers. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Key skills sought in candidates include a positive attitude. Preferred qualifications include two years of medical-surgical experience and ACLS certification. Typical procedures performed on the unit involve assisting with PICC line placements, managing chest tubes, providing wound care, and administering tube feedings. Registered nurses are responsible for initiating IV access, infusing blood products, TPN, and Heparin. The ideal candidate is outgoing, works well within a team setting, and demonstrates a strong commitment to their work. Weekend shifts are required, with a minimum of four weekend shifts in a four-week period. There is no on-call requirement.
