Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Environmental Health and Safety ( EHS
), the Manager of EHS is responsible for the safe and proper
storage, handling, and disposal of all District hazardous
materials. This position is also responsible for assisting with the
management and oversight of the District's environmental programs
and compliance in accordance with the applicable Federal and
provincial regulations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
- Manages hazardous, biohazard, and universal waste program,
which includes drafting and implementation of program policies and
procedures, annual reporting, conducting hazardous waste
determinations, coordination of program activities including
handling and preparing hazardous waste for shipping, maintaining
documentation of waste activities, analytical testing, and ensuring
continual program compliance
- Shares oversite of the District's Asbestos Management Program,
including reporting, requesting, and reviewing ACM surveys, and
management of all abatement activities
- Assists in managing the SPCC and aboveground storage tank ( AST
) programs, including conducting inspections and reviewing
documentation
- Investigates potential environmental or safety issues or
violations.
- Responds to EHS complaints and performs or coordinate testing
or sampling as needed, interprets results, and recommends
corrective action when appropriate, including but not limited to
indoor air quality, mold assessments, and laboratory safety
concerns
- Prepares and delivers timely training to staff as
necessary
- Maintains EHS departmental database, routinely prepares and
reviews reports for regulatory compliance, and exhibits fiscal
responsibility for managed work areas
Service Excellence
- Participates on behalf of the College in external community
organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential
performance requirements
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually,
and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the
worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development
sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
- Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching
excellence, student success, innovation, and creativity and service
to the College
- Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of
the College Supervision
Works under the general supervision of Director Environmental
Health and Safety

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Three (3) years' working experience working in environmental
management
- Valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, engineering, or
related science
- Master's degree
- Professional certification in EHS related discipline
- Experience working with Fire Service Systems Knowledge, Skills
and Abilities
- Knowledge of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act ( RCRA )
regulations
- Knowledge of Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (
SPCC ), Stormwater, and Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (
AHERA ) regulations
- Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
with diverse populations
- Skilled using Office applications and enterprise systems,
including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation
software
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and
a setting that is diverse and urban
- Ability to think critically to effectively solve and
communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands
for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
- Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based
on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
- Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to
meet College and campus deliverables
