We offer 223 beds and services in emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, physical therapy, radiology, total joint replacements, hyperbaric medicine diagnostic/imaging services and wound care facilities. HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center. What you will do in this role:* The Palliative Care Registered Nurse Coordinator is responsible for planning and providing individual goal directed nursing care that promotes, advocates for, and strives to protect the health, safety and rights of the individual, family and community. * The nurse possesses knowledge of the principles of growth and development and the particular skills necessary to provide optimum patient care to the population for which he or she is employed. The RN is accountable for their practice and care coordination. The RN is expected to practice autonomously utilizing evidence based practices.* Provides services in palliative care, symptom management, and supportive care for chronically and seriously ill hospitalized patients and their families.* Utilizes the nursing process based on an expanded knowledge base of pathophysiology and pharmacology to assist with comprehensive health care assessments, diagnosis, treatments, and management of acute and chronic health conditions. * Clinical decisions are formulated in consultation and collaboration with attending physicians. * The Palliative Care nurse is additionally involved in education, consultation and research at various levels.Qualifications What qualification you will need:* Graduate of a School of Nursing, BSN required, Master of Science in nursing preferred* Current Texas RN License issued by the State of Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. * American Red Cross or America Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification is required.* CHPN (Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse) Certification required within two years of hire/transfer* 2 years oncology or critical care experience preferredHCA Healthcare ranks on Fortune?s list of Most Admired Companies for three consecutive years and HCA ranks 63rd on the fortune 500 list.
