Job Summary
Reporting to the District Director of Student Affairs, the
Assistant Director of Student Affairs manages student-centered
initiatives that impact retention, recruitment, and completion
efforts. This position offers office management and assures grant
compliance by consistently reviewing metrics to identify
opportunities to improve student outcomes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
- Supervises designated grants, while monitoring marketing,
compliance, and reporting; and supports grant projects in adhering
to institutional and funding agency guidelines, policy, and
compliance regulations
- Interprets key metrics to develop strategies to positively
impact student satisfaction, student retention, and completion
rates and reviews metrics to determine future student-centered
strategies
- Assists the District Director of Student Affairs with project
planning, design, development, and implementation
- Assists in executing and managing special events and projects
for the district or department
- Provides resource management to the department with debriefs
and informs leadership of assigned program statuses
- Attends meetings and serves on committees as assigned to
maintain District Student Affairs presence
- Seeks out and attends appropriate professional meetings,
conferences, and workshops to remain abreast of student affair
trends
- Provides appropriate recommendations and communications to
appropriate leaders, teams, and committees and partners with
internal departments to streamline communication
- Updates district and campus materials related to student
services
- Supports program assessments, including instruments, tools, and
surveys
- Provides appropriate recommendations and communications to
appropriate leaders, teams, and committees
- Provides resource management to the department and informs
leadership of assigned program statuses
- Collaborates with internal and external partners as needed to
improve students' experience and success
General Supervision and Management
Partners with District Director of Student Affairs to manage and
execute the District Student Affairs day-to-day office operations
and team leadership
Service Excellence
- Participates on behalf of the College in external community
organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential
performance requirements
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually,
and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the
worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development
sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
- Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching
excellence, student success, innovation, and creativity and service
to the College
- Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of
the College Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the District Director of
Student Affairs

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Five (5) years' working experience related to the Essential
Performance Requirements
- Two (2) years' experience supervising (e.g., managing,
evaluating the performance of others; leading projects or
processes) Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree
- Degree in higher education administration, education, or
student affairs field
- Experience in strategic planning and implementation
- Experience developing higher education programming
- Experience working in a community college environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Student Affairs or Student Development activities
such as advising, counseling, career services, student activities,
and mentoring
- Skilled with highly developed oral and written communication
skills, including an ability to present creative content
- Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
with diverse populations
- Skilled using applications and enterprise systems, including
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook software
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with student
affairs, academic affairs, and enrollment services
- Ability to think critically to effectively solve and
communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands
for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
- Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based
on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
- Ability to delegate work appropriately to staff to meet College
and campus deliverables
- Ability to forecast and project student services needs at a
high level
- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential records and
information
- Ability to execute assignments with strong attention to details
and adherence to deadlines
- Ability to think critically and identify potential issues
before they arise
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive
information
