Job Description:
Interprets, integrates, and evaluates subsurface geologic data
to evaluate oil and gas acquisition and development opportunities
for the company. Essential Job Responsibilities: Identifies
exploration opportunities and quantifies development targets on
producing property acquisitions; supports A&D evaluations
engineer in team evaluation of property acquisitions and reserve
bookings. Present materials to senior management that include
geological context, subsurface risk, development upside, emerging
plays, and commercial considerations. Creates executive-level
presentations that clearly communicate asset evaluation findings,
key assumptions, and investment recommendations to senior
management Conducts strategic research on target geological areas,
target companies, industry dynamics, and macro trends to support ad
hoc projects and strategic planning initiatives Participate in data
rooms and maintain employee confidence and protect corporate
assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information
confidential. Interprets and evaluates subsurface geologic data to
construct integrated maps, cross sections, and other geologic
displays defining subsurface structure, reservoir geometries, net
sand and pay, hydrocarbon pore volume and other essential
economically significant interpretations. Obtains, manipulates, and
interprets computer databases and mapping programs consistent with
established company mapping standards. Obtains and interprets well
log correlation and interpretation, petrophysical analysis,
interpretation of seismic data, field specific geologic
interpretation of known producing traps and trap types, structure
and producing intervals to define drilling, recompletion, and
workover economic objectives. Maintain technical knowledge by
attending educational workshops and reviewing professional
publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in
professional associations. Adheres to the company’s values –

attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings. Other
Job Responsibilities: Supervises and directs the work of other
departmental staff to accomplish the objectives of the department
and company. Maintains employee confidence and protects corporate
assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information
confidential. Maintains technical knowledge by attending
educational workshops and reviewing professional publications,
establishing personal networks, and participating in professional
associations. Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications: Fifteen (15) years minimum experience in geological
oil and gas development and/or exploration, and a proven ability to
generate multiple investment opportunities. Experience in multiple
basins. Working knowledge and some practical experience of the role
and job responsibilities of Reservoir and Operations Engineers,
Landmen, and other company professionals in order to accomplish
team goals. Ability to integrate and synthesize geologic
interpretations to generate economically justified investment
opportunities for the company. Ability to accurately solve
problems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments,
officials, and the public. Ability to complete multiple, diverse
tasks of differing priorities. Excellent written and verbal
communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex
information into an organized and presentable manner. Project
management, administrative, and organizational skills. Ability to
evaluate large volumes of data in a short time period and
synthesize the material into a concise, cogent interpretation for
presentation to Senior Management Proficiency in the use and
application of the following software: Required: PETRA or other
Geologic database and mapping software. Preferred: Strong working
knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) Education
Requirements: Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited
four-year university or college with a degree in geology.
Preferred: Master’s Degree from an accredited university or college
with a degree in geology. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
Preferred: Membership in the American Association of Petroleum
Geologists (AAPG) and local geologic society(ies).
